OTOP | BANDUNGLIFE

The Thai government has been promoting the local industry through the manufacturing of attractive specialty products based on the abundant native culture, tradition and nature. This campaign is called‚ One Tambon One Product (OTOP) in Thailand because the target area is the administrative unit called ‚Tambon, which is the equivalent of village or town in English.

These are some of the products made under the OTOP scheme within Udon Thani Province and specifically Amphoe Ban Dung.

Pottery

A village of potters is located at Ban Kham on route 22. At Ban Pu Lu, residents replicate the old Ban Chiang pottery

Baskets

In Ban Dong Yen, the villagers make baskets for the sticky rice from bamboo sticks.

The people of Ban Tat are local crafters who weave the pha kasat products obtained from three types of yarn.

Weaving:

Located 16 km from the provincial capital, along Highway No. 2 (Route Udon Thani – Nong Khai) is the village of ban Na Ka which is well known for its local Pha Khit weaving looms.

2 km from Ban Na Ka is Ban Thon along the road to Amphoe Ban Dung, this village is as much known for its looms as for the cotton brocade it produces in Satellite Handicraft Villages.
